The Kenya Industrial Estates (KIE) Busia Branch has strengthened its community engagement through participation in the Iteso Cultural Day, using the platform to sensitise entrepreneurs and community members on financial management and available business financing opportunities.
Speaking during the event, Busia Branch Manager, Mr. Nickson Gogo, highlighted KIE’s enterprise development interventions and called on Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) to embrace government-owned financial institutions as strategic partners in accessing affordable business finance, strengthening their enterprises and unlocking growth opportunities.
The engagement brought together key stakeholders, including Alupe University, the County Government of Busia, the Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF), the Women Enterprise Fund (WEF), the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA), commercial banks and members of the Iteso community drawn from Kenya and Uganda among other participants.
The cultural celebrations will culminate on Saturday, October 31, 2026 with a landmark gathering marking the fourth coronation anniversary of His Royal Highness Papa Emorimor Paul Sande Emolot Etomeileng III, the Paramount Chief of the Iteso Cultural Union.
The celebrations are expected to attract President William Samoei Ruto of Kenya and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda, bringing together cultural leaders and communities from both countries to celebrate shared heritage, strengthen cross-border ties and promote regional unity.
Meanwhile, KIE’s Lower Eastern Region convened its Regional Performance Management (RPM) meeting to review performance for the Financial Year 2025/2026 and deliberated on strategies to strengthen operational efficiency and service delivery.
The meeting, chaired by Ms. Claudette Mwimbi on behalf of the Regional Manager, focused on the importance of conducting effective monitoring and evaluation of projects generated across the region to assess implementation progress, establish impact and enhance accountability.
The team also deliberated on collections, Business Advisory Services (BAS) activities and implementation of the second Rapid Results Initiative (RRI), alongside other operational priorities affecting regional performance.
